Neethi Abraham reviews plans

Neethi gave us a few minutes of her time to fill us in on her ideas about place and architecture.

You’ve lived all over the world, do you have a favorite place?
A place that is meaningful to me is my ancestral state in India- Kerala. It is known as God’s own country because of its backwaters, coconut trees, and scenic views.

What makes it special to you?
It holds a special place because I have extended family there. I enjoy going to the sailing club, my great-grandparents’ home, and being on a houseboat, eating all the incredible food the state has to offer. It’s always a joy to be there.

What makes you passionate about architecture?
I have familiarized myself with architecture as a tool for human-centric design and social change, thus developing a passion for inclusivity and diversity in design, resulting in my becoming a 2020 New Leaders Council Fellow. I am passionate about making design accessible to all through dignified design.

What’s your role in the design process?
Previously I worked as an Architect in Bangalore India, where I focused primarily on new construction for residential and commercial projects, cultural heritage preservation, and interiors. Currently, I work on conceptualizing innovative design schemes, construction documentation, and 3D rendering, fostering collaborative working relationships with clients, consultants, and colleagues.

We heard you have a few accolades to your name. Can we bring those up here?

  • 2020 New Leaders Council Fellow
  • 2018 American Institute of Architects Emerging Architecture Exhibit Award – Power of Design
  • 2017 Speaker: RI Historic Preservation Conference: Projecting Change – Adapting to rise in sea levels
